News headlines

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is meeting with Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre today. The two are expected to discuss the Energy East pipeline project, after Coderre and other Montreal-area mayors came out against the project last week. Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi says he will also be meeting with Coderre at an upcoming mayors' meeting in Ottawa. Trudeau and Coderre are expected to address the media later this morning.

The boil-water advisory for Carmangay will remain in effect for at least another day. The order was issued for the village Friday following a leak in one of the water lines. The province is testing samples to make sure the tap water is safe to drink. Carmangay is located 60 kilometers northwest of Lethbridge.

A Calgary gang affiliate has been charged with conspiring to kill three notorious B.C. brothers. Vancouver police arrested Billy Ly in Calgary on Friday. He's been charged in connection with a 2008-2009 plot to kill the Bacon brothers, who allegedly ran the Red Scorpion gang in the lower mainland. A stereo installer who was driving one of the brothers' cars was killed in the case of mistaken identity. Five other men pleaded guilty to the same crime in 2013. One Bacon brother was killed in 2011, while the other two are currently serving sentences or awaiting trial. Next Monday, Ly goes to trial in Calgary on a charge of attempted murder in connection with a stabbing that nearly killed rival gangster, Nick Chan.
