News headlines

Crews are on the scene of a house fire in the southeast community of Mahogany. The fire was called in before 5 a.m. this morning. There is no word on any injuries at this point. We'll have more information as it becomes available.

Hundreds of people are signing a petition to voice their concerns about a $40 million rapid transit bus route planned to link the downtown with Mount Royal University, Rockyview General Hospital and the community of Woodlands. They attended a meeting last night organized by the lobby group Ready to Engage. Members of the group believe the bus route will hurt property values in the area, increase noise, and they expect it will be underused. Supporters say the new route will improve transit service.
