Good morning, Calgary! It's –8 C at the airport at 7:30 a.m. Here's what's happening in the city today.

Weather

Expect a bit of light snow this morning in the city, with a high of –7 C during the day.

Overnight, the low will drop down to a cloudy –12 C. There is a chance of flurries Thursday, but also a rise in the temperature, with a high of 4 C (your eyes don't deceive you, no minus in front of that 4!)

Traffic

If you see anything happening on Calgary roads or southern Alberta highways, you can give Calgary Eyeopener traffic reporter Angela Knight a call at #1010, *1010 or 403-521-1010. You can also send a tweet to @CalgaryCommute.

News headlines

About 50 Calgary conservatives met last night at the Acadian Recreation Centre to discuss how to bring the province's two right-wing parties together to win the next provincial election. Wildrose Party leader Brian Jean has openly promoted the concept of uniting the right, saying it's time to put old grievances aside, but PC interim leader Ric McIver has been cool to the idea.

A Supreme Court case involving a Calgary mother who killed her babies continues in Ottawa today. In 2013, Meredith Borowiec was convicted of infanticide — a lesser charge than the two counts of murder she originally faced. The CBC's Meghan Grant is in Ottawa covering the story and will bring updates as they come.

Canmore is giving the green light to future development at the Peaks of Grassi after a lengthy battle between the community and developers. The town will rezone the urban reserve to build affordable housing.
