Calgary mother accused of killing her babies granted bail
Meredith Borowiec on trial for 2nd-degree murder in the death of her newborns in 2008 and 2009
A Calgary mother accused of killing her two newborns has been granted bail while she waits for court proceedings to continue in November.
Meredith Borowiec is charged with second-degree murder in the death of two newborns in 2008 and 2009.
It is alleged both babies died shortly after they were born. Their bodies were never recovered.
A publication ban prevents CBC News from reporting on details discussed in court.
Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Peter McIntyre released Borowiec on conditions, including that she maintain her current form of birth control.
Borowiec is also accused of attempted murder of a third newborn after her baby son was found in a dumpster in October 2010.
That trial has been adjourned until 2014.
