Two Calgary men face sex-related charges for allegedly having sex with teenage girls in Banff over the weekend, RCMP say.

A 26-year-old man was arrested after Bow Valley RCMP stopped his vehicle on Banff Avenue around 3 a.m. MT Saturday, according to a release sent Sunday night.

While police originally stopped the vehicle on a traffic violation, officers determined the man had allegedly been sexually active with a 15-year-old girl who was his passenger.

Police then learned that a second 15-year-old girl was in a Banff hotel room with a 23-year-old man who was associated with the driver.

Officers located both individuals, and later determined the 23-year-old man was also allegedly sexually active with the second teen.

Both girls are from Calgary. Their names were not released.

The men face charges of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.

The 26-year-old is currently in custody, and will appear in provincial court in Canmore, Alta., on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old also faces charges of failing to comply with a recognizance and obstructing a police officer. He was released by a justice of the peace on an undisclosed cash bail.

His release comes with a number of conditions, including no contact with anyone under age 18.

He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Banff on Aug. 10.
