The bodies of a former Calgary woman and her climbing partner — experienced climbers who had been missing for more than a month — have been found on Scotland's Ben Nevis mountain.

Rachel Slater, whose family still lives in Calgary, and Tim Newton had been missing since Feb. 13.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue has posted on its Facebook page that two bodies were found on Wednesday.

Bad weather hampered earlier attempts to find the pair.

BBC Scotland says police have confirmed the bodies have been identified as Slater and Newton.

Slater was a U.K. citizen who lived and attended school in Calgary between 2005 and 2009.

"The effort which has gone into this rescue has been immense in some of the most challenging conditions you could expect to experience," the local rescue team said on its Facebook post.
