4. Free Fishing Weekend

Free fishing weekend

This weekend is one of just two free fishing weekends the province hosts every year. Regular catch rules still apply, so make sure you brush up on what's allowed and what's not. (Getty Images)

It only happens twice a year, and it's happening now. This is your chance to take the whole family fishing, and you won't even need a license.

The province has more than 160 stocked water bodies for anglers to enjoy, with ample brook trout, brown trout or cutthroat trout. You can view current stocking reports here.

National parks aren't included, and regular rules still apply, so make sure you brush up on what you can catch and what you can keep.
