A Calgary police officer was seriously hurt early Sunday morning after going through a window while trying to break up a fight.

Police say the disturbance call came in around 2:30 a.m. and several officers were sent to 10th Avenue and 6th Street S.W.

"It sounded like they were breaking up a fight," said Det. Torrey Killam with the Calgary Police Service. "The person he was attempting to control or grab on to, the two of them went through a window."

The officer has serious injuries to his arm but Killam says he is expected to make a full recovery.

It's not clear whether the officer fell through the window or was pushed through by the person he was trying to subdue.
