A nine-year-old boy is recovering after he was wounded by an unidentified projectile in southeast Calgary last week.
The child was playing in his backyard in the 3000 block of Dover Crescent S.E. on Saturday when he heard a loud bang, police said.
His parents discovered a puncture in his upper abdomen and took him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
Doctors were unable to remove the object because the procedure would be too intrusive, police said.
Despite searching the neighbourhood extensively, investigators are still trying to figure out what hit the boy.
It’s believed an air-powered gun was used to shoot the projectile.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
It is a bylaw offence to fire any weapon within city limits, police said.
