Boy, 16, charged in woman's death in S.E. Calgary
Police believe it was not a random killing
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a Calgary woman on the weekend.
The body of the 49-year-old was found at a home in the 2800 block of 14th Avenue southeast on Saturday.
Someone had asked police to check on her welfare.
An investigator from the medical examiner’s office said the death was suspicious. The cause of death has not been released.
The teen was known to the victim and it was not a random crime, police said.
Neither the suspect nor the victim are being identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
