Calgary police have recovered the classic 1962 Corvette that was stolen from its longtime owner.

The cherry red sports car, or "Betsey," was recovered on an acreage in De Winton, just south of Calgary, thanks to tips from the public.

Kenneth Jelley called the car his "pride and joy" earlier this week.

The missing car was found after police asked for the public's help. A tip led them to the stolen vehicle. (Calgary Police Service)

The 73-year-old has owned the rare convertible for over 40 years. It had just 54,000 miles on it.

Forensic tests will be performed before police return the car to Jelley.

The car was taken from an outdoor parking spot outside his Lake Bonavista home more than a week ago.

No charges have been laid.
