Beer fridge-sized boulder strikes Kananaskis Country climber

Rescue crews in Kananaskis Country helped a man off Mount Yamnuska on Friday after a beer fridge-sized boulder fell onto his lower leg.

Rescue crews in Kananaskis Country helped a man off Mount Yamnuska on Friday after a beer fridge-sized boulder fell onto his lower leg.

The climber was struck on Missionary's Crack along a vertical section of rock face. 

Two members of the Kananaskis Country Public Safety team were able to helisling to a ledge below the climber and build a new anchor, climb up to the patient, splint him and lower him back down to the new anchor. 

From there, they were able to sling him down to a waiting team of paramedics.

So far, there's no word on his condition or injuries.
