Aubrey Levin turned himself in Friday morning to begin serving a five-year sentence for sexual assault.

The former court psychiatrist was free on bail while his conviction was being appealed.

The Alberta Court of Appeal upheld three convictions on Wednesday for sexual assault and ordered Levin to turn himself in within 48 hours.

He was found guilty of three counts in January 2013 for fondling men who had been assigned to him as patients through the courts.

Levin had faced other charges but was found not guilty on two counts of sexual assault while mistrials were declared on four other counts.
