Two men have been charged with arson after grass fires flared up on Thursday along the west side of Highway 22 south of Longview..
RCMP have charged each man with four counts of arson.
Crews spent Thursday afternoon battling the fires along Highway 22 including several that were close to the Bar U Ranch National Historic Site.
"Our crew here at the Bar U just went right away. We got some brooms and shovels and worked at what we could in the ditches just east of the Bar U. Fire crews responded and emergency crews responded very quickly," said ranch manager Mike McLean.
Police said earlier in the day they believe the fires were started by fireworks.
The fires were under control by mid-afternoon and there was no threat to homes or livestock.
The Bar U Ranch remains open.
