Calgary firefighters were called to a large fire in an empty house in the 100 block of Arbour Stone Close N.W. Sunday night for a two-alarm blaze.

The call came in at about 7:25 p.m. and, after the initial response, fire officials said additional trucks had to been brought in to battle the flames.

"Upon arrival it was discovered that the house on fire was in fact abandoned and was not only boarded up but also had a security fence in place," the fire department said in a release.

No injuries were reported and the fire was kept from spreading to neighbouring homes.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
