RCMP in west-central Alberta are investigating the death of a teenager killed in a bizarre incident on Monday.
Two teenaged boys were sitting in a parked vehicle in Rocky Mountain House on Monday afternoon when one of them apparently started playing with a small flare gun that was inside the vehicle. It went off and the flare struck the other teenager, the RCMP said in a statement on Tuesday.
Emergency crews treated the boy at the scene, who was taken to hospital in Rocky Mountain House where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday.
There have been no arrests and no charges have been laid in the incident.
