A six-year-old girl from Cochrane, Alta., has died in a vehicle crash in Montana.

Police say the woman was driving her Ford Explorer northbound on Highway 93, near Whitefish, and pulling a trailer when she swerved into the southbound lane and collided with a pick-up pulling a fifth wheeler. The Explorer came to rest on its roof.

Krissie Lynn Shirlaw, 6, didn't survive. Her mother and two brothers, ages four and eight, have been sent to hospital. The driver of the pick-up truck was also treated for injuries.

Trooper Andrew Horton with the Montana Highway Patrol said police are investigating the incident.

"The camper that was being pulled by the Explorer started fish-tailing and swinging back and forth and that's one of the factors that caused the vehicle to lose control," he said.
