Aspiring prima ballerinas and their mothers celebrated Mother's Day in style Sunday with tea, tutus and one of the Alberta Ballet's dancers.

The dance company organized the Tea & Tutus Mother's Day Celebration. It featured high tea for the whole family, a parade of tutus for young partygoers, craft stations, a ballerina boutique and the chance to meet one of the company's ballerinas.

"At the School of Alberta Ballet and at Alberta Ballet, of course moms are central to bringing their kids to those ballet classes, year after year after year, and this is a great way for families to celebrate," said Meran Currie-Roberts, the manager of corporate and individual giving at Alberta Ballet.

The fundraiser is a first but Alberta Ballet hopes it will become an annual event.
