Police say just after noon Thursday a man wearing a hard hat rang the doorbell of a residence in the community of Woodside.
The homeowner confronted the suspect when he made his way into the backyard.
The suspect took off in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Following similar reports from other homeowners, police located the man in the Reunion area.
A police dog assisted and following a short foot chase the man was taken into custody, and the Jeep was determined to be stolen from Calgary.
The suspect has been released on a promise to appear, but Airdrie RCMP are asking anyone with more information to contact them at 403-945-7267.
