A Calgary man charged in a fatal hit-and-run collision now faces new charges.

Calgary’s Lloyd Louis Gerard had been out on bail since June following a collision near Beiseker, Alta., which left one woman dead. RCMP say Gerard was arrested again on the weekend, accused of two counts of failing to comply with his bail conditions.

He was set to appear in court Monday morning.

Raelene Schmaltz, a nurse from Beiseker, was killed in June when her SUV collided with a Dodge Ram pickup on Highway 9. When police arrived on scene there were two vehicles, but the driver of the second vehicle was gone. A man was later arrested when he turned himself in.

Gerard, 40, is charged with dangerous driving causing death and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. His bail conditions included a curfew and a prohibition from driving a motor vehicle.

Beiseker is a one-hour drive northeast of Calgary.
