Eighteen young people have just graduated from a new early learning program designed to create a new generation of Aboriginal child educators.
The program was taught at the Nakoda College in Morley by teachers from Bow Valley College in Calgary.
"It gave me so many things but it really taught me the importance of child development and catching that at an early stage," said Dakona Rabbit, one of the graduates. "It definitely helps you be a better parent and be more aware of your children."
Course on developmental psychology, public speaking and children's literature make up part of the curriculum.
Graduates can pursue careers as early childhood educators or use the skills to become better parents to their own kids.
