A massive explosion demolished a Texas fertilizer plant and levelled surrounding homes and buildings on Wednesday evening.

The materials being stored at the plant are also present in facilities across Canada. In Alberta, there are a total of 10 fertilizer plants and seven of them are in the southern part of the province.

Medicine Hat in southern Alberta is also home to the country's largest fertilizer plant, and it is inside city limits.
