'Game of Thrones' star Peter Dinklage to appear at Calgary Expo

Comic Expo

Fans of comics, gaming and animation have been waiting all year for this weekend. Roughly 60,000 people are set to gather at Stampede Park Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo.

Some big stars will be making appearances this year, including Carrie Fisher (of Star Wars' Princess Leia fame), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones) and Gillian Anderson (X-Files).

Tickets for the convention are entirely sold out but there are still some up for grabs for the expo's Weird Al concert at Stampede Corral Friday night.

La Traviata

Verdi's La Traviata is one of the most beloved and frequently performed works in the world of opera. Friday's performance at the Jubilee tells the story of a fallen woman who decides to leave her glamorous lifestyle for love.

The performance will wrap up Calgary Opera's VIVA Verdi season.

Anne of Green Gables

In the theatre world, Anne of Green Gables: The Musical is on now at the Max Bell Theatre. The production, put on by Theatre Calgary, is based on the classic Lucy Maud Montgomery novel.

Set in P.E.I., Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan. But to their surprise, the child who arrives isn't a boy but a red-headed little girl. The show runs until June 2.
