Two northeast homes are uninhabitable after a large fire spread from one to the other early Sunday morning.

Fire crews were called out around 2:30 a.m. MT for reports of a house fire in the 100 block of Castlebrook Road N.E.

The first arriving officer called for additional help after finding the fire had spread to a second residence.

Crews were then able to quickly bring the blaze under control using large volume water streams.

Three people had escaped from the residences before fire crews arrived and were assessed and released on scene by emergency crews.

Both homes had extensive damage and the residents will not be able to return to them.

Fire crews are still on the scene extinguishing hot spots. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
