2 firefighters hurt in 'stubborn' industrial fire

Two Calgary firefighters were injured Friday evening during a blaze in the city's southeast.

Large construction equipment had to be brought in to help crews fight blaze

Two Calgary firefighters received minor injuries Friday evening during what fire crews are calling a "stubborn" blaze in the city's southeast.

Crews were called out to a building fire in the 4100 block of 120 Avenue S.E. around 8 p.m. MT.

The first crews dispatched to the scene requested more help after they noticed the large amount of smoke and flames visible.

When they arrived on the scene, crews found a large storage structure completely engulfed in flames.

Large water streams were used to prevent the fire from spreading and to try to get it under control.

Construction equipment had to be brought in due to the fire's strength and the failing structural integrity of the building.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
