Two men from Red Deer, Alta., have been charged with drug trafficking after making a traffic stop.

Red Deer RCMP said they found marijuana in a vehicle they considered suspicious and pulled over.

The driver, a 32-year-old male, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police did not disclose the quantity of marijuana seized in the incident.

After the traffic stop, police got a search warrant for a residence in the Red Deer area of Vanier. They found undisclosed quantities of marijuana and psilocybin (magic mushrooms).

A 30-year-old Red Deer man has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in connection with the incident.

Police have not released the names of the men charged.

Both the accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on separate dates in July.

Red Deer is located approximately 150 kilometres north of Calgary along the Queen Elizabeth Highway.
