1 dead in Ponoka highway rollover
Crews say it appears the victim, 35, was ejected from vehicle
One woman is dead after a vehicle rollover on Highway 53 about three kilometres east of Ponoka Sunday morning.
Local RCMP received a report about a crash involving a single vehicle at about 6:15 a.m. MT. Emergency crews arrived to find a 35-year-old Ponoka woman, the sole occupant of the vehicle, dead at the scene.
RCMP say it appears the GMC Envoy was travelling west on the highway when it lost control and slid sideways into the ditch.
The slide caused the vehicle to roll an unknown number of times, ejecting the woman.
It's not yet known whether speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
RCMP say road conditions at the time were bare and dry.
The woman's identity is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
