1 dead in Okotoks collision
88-year-old driver was ejected from vehicle upon impact
One person is dead and another in hospital after a collision Saturday afternoon in Okotoks.
Okotoks RCMP, as well as the local fire department and EMS, responded at 3:45 p.m. MT to reports of a crash on Highway 7 at Fifth Street West, commonly known as Sundance Trail.
A Ford pickup was travelling eastbound on Highway 7 when a Volvo car pulled out from Fifth Street to turn westbound onto Highway 7. The Ford was not able to stop in time and collided with the Volvo.
The 88-year-old male driver of the Volvo was ejected from the car upon impact. He and the 67-year-old passenger were transported to hospital.
The driver later died as a result of his injuries.
The passenger remains in hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the Ford truck was not injured and police say neither speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
