Worker dies at residential construction site in Coquitlam

Fire Chief Wade Pierlot has confirmed the death of a worker this morning at a residential construction site at 261 Hart Street in Coquitlam.

Crews try but fail to revive worker trapped in trench

A construction worker is dead after becoming trapped in a trench at a residential construction site in Coquitlam. 

Coquitlam Fire Chief Wade Pierlot says fire crews deployed a rescue team to 261 Hart Street just before 11 a.m. PT. He says they were able to remove the worker from the trench but could not revive the individual.

RCMP and WorkSafe B.C. are both investigating. 

The gender and age of the worker have not been released. 

It's not clear exactly what work was underway at the site, but Pierlot says it involved the removal of soil.
