A 19th century autograph book, that belonged to a head doorkeeper for American presidents, fetched $25,300 on auction on Wednesday.
In a statement, Maynards’ Antiques, International & Asian Art says the final price exceeded the book's expected value by $15,300.
The book belonged to Major Charles D.A Loeffler, who served in the President’s office from 1869 to 1909 for U.S President Ulysses S. Grant through Theodore Roosevelt.
It contained nearly 300 signatures from various presidents, vice-presidents, senators, celebrities, foreign dignitaries, including Mark Twain, Winston Churchill and Buffalo Bill Cody.
The autograph book was bought by a Canadian phone bidder.
