There's a lot more wet weather still to come, Vancouver.

Rounds of overnight and early Wednesday morning showers will ramp up to steady rain by the afternoon as an atmospheric river ushers in sub-tropical air and moisture.

The heaviest of the rain will fall for the North Shore, where 50-80 millimetres is not out of the question by Thursday morning.

Rain amounts will be as low as 10-15 millimetres for southern sections of Metro Vancouver, with Downtown Vancouver getting between 20-40 millimetres over the next 24 hours.

Winds will also be gusty — especially by the water and towards Wednesday evening as the front moves through.

As for temperatures, you guessed it — warm. 12 C for Vancouver and freezing levels up above 2,000 metres.

Look for tapering showers for a bit of a break Thursday afternoon, and the long-range shows a cool-down by the weekend for some local mountain snow showers.
