Vancouver washroom arsonist sought after 3 downtown fires
Man allegedly set fire to garbage bins inside washrooms of three downtown businesses
Vancouver police are searching for an arsonist suspected of setting fire to garbage bins inside the washrooms of two downtown restaurants and one coffee shop on Sunday afternoon.
- The first fire was set at about 4:30 p.m. PT at the Shenanigans Restaurant on Robson Street near Bute Street.
- The second was set at about 5:30 p.m. at a Starbucks on Davie Street near Thurlow Street.
- The third was started around 7:30 p.m. at the Subway on Mainland Street near Nelson Street.
Nobody was injured in the fires and damage was minimal.
Police say the description of the suspect in all three cases is the same:
- Mid- to late-20s.
- Medium build.
- Short, light-brown hair.
- Wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt.
Police plan to canvass nearby businesses for video surveillance recordings that might have captured images of the suspect.
