Vancouver businesses band together to offer their services all in one place to those in need

Vancouver businesses came together Wednesday to offer their services for free to Downtown Eastside residents as part of the annual Summer Connect event.

The event, organized by the Union Gospel Mission, aims to help people struggling with poverty, homelessness and addiction by offering essential services under one roof free of charge.

Some 40 businesses took part this year, providing services including legal assistance, support for housing, haircuts and wheelchair repair.
