Developers behind a huge proposal to revamp Vancouver's Oakridge Centre presented their revised concept drawings at an open house on Saturday.
Ivanhoé Cambridge and Westbank Projects are planning 14 new buildings, including 11 towers, at 41st Avenue and Cambie Street.
The proposed construction would see the mall double in size to 13,000 square metres, with new buildings and towers ranging from six to 45 storeys.
The plan would include a 6,500 square metre civic centre and nearly 3,000 new housing units, doubling the number of social housing units to 280.
But critics say the project still doesn't address the community's needs for more services, like new schools and daycare facilities.
The Oakridge Centre was first developed in 1956 and is currently home to shops, services, offices, and community and residential space, covering an area of around eight city blocks.
An open house on the project ran Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the former Zellers location in the Oakridge Centre.
