Video shows police pushing allegedly stolen SUV out of traffic
Vancouver police have arrested a 32-year-old Surrey man after a high-speed chase that was captured on video by a passing motorist.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. PT on May 2. Const. Jason Doucette said the chase ensued after police spotted a man driving a vehicle believed to be stolen on Great Northern Way near Glenn Drive.
In an emailed statement, Doucette said the driver attempted to flee, collided with a police SUV, and was eventually arrested after a second collision. Doucette said no one was injured in either of the collisions.
Dion Marlon Bird has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle and assaulting a police officer. He remains in police custody awaiting a court appearance next week.
