A Fraser Valley apartment building was evacuated after a van busted into it, taking out walls and damaging two ground-floor suites early Friday morning.

"Remarkably, all occupants of the suites, although extremely shaken, were uninjured," a statement from the Abbotsford Police Department said.

Police say the driver, who may have been in medical distress, drove her van into the building in the 2400 block of Countess Street at around 3 a.m. PT.

An Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service crew extricated the woman, who was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police evacuated the apartment building as a precaution due to significant structural damage.

Officers are investigating whether speed was a factor in the collision. Roads in the area were closed for several hours.
