Ucluelet's ammonia leak evacuation rescinded
People who were asked to go to higher ground, told they can go back
An evacuation of Ucluelet’s downtown core due to an ammonia leak at Ucluelet Harbour Seafood was rescinded within the same hour the order went out.
Officials say the leak has now been contained.
The harbour was briefly ordered closed and everyone in the downtown core below Peninsula Road was asked to move to higher ground.
About 300 people were affected.
It’s not yet clear what caused the leak.
