Trevor Koehler shot dead at Maple Ridge townhouse
Investigators looking for light-coloured compact import car
Police are investigating what appears to be a targeted shooting at a new townhouse complex in Maple Ridge, B.C., on Tuesday night.
Trevor Koehler, 33, of Maple Ridge, was shot several times by the unknown assailant around 10:15 p.m. PT. Police say he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators say they are now looking for a light-coloured, possibly white or cream, compact import car, possibly a Honda, Toyota or Acura.
They say Koehler had no previous record and was not known to police and the incident does not appear to be gang-related, but it was not a random attack.
"At this early stage of the investigation we can say Trevor was the victim of a targeted attack and this was not a random occurrence," said Sgt. Adam MacIntosh in statement released on Wednesday morning.
Resident Ezekiel Kiramathypathy said he heard two men arguing around 10 p.m. PT, followed by what sounded like gun shots, and then a man running to a car and driving away.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
