TransLink is rolling out a series of permanent bus route changes, including replacing two routes in the Tri-Cities area of Metro Vancouver.

The 179 and 189 routes are being discontinued. Spokeswoman Jiana Ling says the new 188 bus service will run down the Coast Meridian overpass and serve the Burke Mountain residential area.

The 178 will travel between the Port Moody and Coquitlam stations during peak hours from 6 a.m. PT to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Furthermore TransLink is redesigning routes serving the University of B.C. for more efficiency, says Ling. The list of changes can be found on the TransLink website.

If you're still uncertain if your route has been altered, TransLink has also updated the trip-planner on its website: Simply punch in your route number and you'll be able to see any changes made.

The service's mobile phone apps have also been updated to reflect the differences and TransLink will be posting notices of change on each of the station stops affected.
