Just as the Trans-Canada Highway reopened Thursday morning near Hope following a mudslide, it was closed east of Kamloops because of a fatal crash.

Peter Gooch of the transportation ministry said a tractor trailer truck rolled over on the highway near Sorrento and the road is closed in both directions.

He said travellers will have to take Highways 97 and 97-A and B to get around the crash site.

Officials said the highway could reopen by as early as 6 p.m. PT, but were not confident they could meet that deadline.
