Eastbound traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway is once again moving across the Port Mann Bridge after a fatal traffic accident had shut the route down earlier Thursday.

Police say a 50-year-old female from Coquitlam pulled her car over and got out of the vehicle and was then hit by a semi-trailer on the west-end approach to the bridge.

The woman was declared dead at the scene.

The eastbound lanes of the highway between Coquitlam and Surrey were closed at about 1:30 p.m.
