Organizers expect a crowd of hundreds of thousands so pick your spot wisely near English Bay to enjoy 25 minutes of fireworks choreographed to music. The annual Celebration of Light continues July 30 and August 2.

3. Mission Folk Music Fest

Head down to the Fraser River Heritage Park in Mission for a weekend of blues, roots, Balkan, and good ol' folk music. The festival showcases "the best, the rarest, the unheard of that should be heard." Highlights this year include Ireland's Dervish, Korea's Dulsori, and blues performer Zakiya Hooker, daughter of John Lee Hooker.

4. Caribbean Days Festival

If you want to dance to Caribbean rhythms or eat spicy island cuisine, get to Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. The two-day festival features sparkly costumes and a parade on Saturday that starts at 10 AM.
