CBC Radio's On The Coast team has good ideas for your weekend
The rain is over and the summer sun has returned! Here are five things to check out this weekend from the On The Coast team.
1. Surrey Cricket Pitch
A new park opens Saturday in South-West Newton, and the cricket players are very excited about their new field.
The new field house and regulation-sized surface means players will be able to host tournaments. The opening ceremony will feature cricket demonstrations, face painting, and entertainment.

Vancouverites know a good fireworks show when they see one, and on Saturday night the team from the USA will do their best to impress.
Organizers expect a crowd of hundreds of thousands so pick your spot wisely near English Bay to enjoy 25 minutes of fireworks choreographed to music. The annual Celebration of Light continues July 30 and August 2.
3. Mission Folk Music Fest
Head down to the Fraser River Heritage Park in Mission for a weekend of blues, roots, Balkan, and good ol' folk music. The festival showcases "the best, the rarest, the unheard of that should be heard." Highlights this year include Ireland's Dervish, Korea's Dulsori, and blues performer Zakiya Hooker, daughter of John Lee Hooker.
4. Caribbean Days Festival
If you want to dance to Caribbean rhythms or eat spicy island cuisine, get to Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. The two-day festival features sparkly costumes and a parade on Saturday that starts at 10 AM.
5. Berry Picking, but stay away from the bears
B.C.'s blueberry season is in full swing. Farmers are expecting record yields. Get out and get picking!
