The heat wave is over, the rain may threaten to fall, but summer fun must go on. Here are five things to check out this weekend courtesy of the On The Coast team.

Vancouver Folk Festival

Load up your miniature lawn chairs and your tarp on to your beach cruiser and head off to Jericho to bop along to a weekend of great music. Joan Baez, Andrew Bird, and the Born Ruffians, to name a few.

Pemberton Music Festival

Further north, the Pemberton Music Festival is back. Six years ago, a different team of organizers had problems with the venue and trampled all over the goodwill of the Pemberton locals.

This time around, organizers promise a well-run extravaganza. Headliners include Nine Inch Nails, the Flaming Lips, and Snoop Dogg.

Daytime dancing in New West

Deejays, dancers, and picnics in a public space. The Vancouver Urban Space Initiative wants us all to get out and have more fun in our parks. They'll provide the music. You provide the moves.

Go Swimming

Vancouver Public Pool

Kids swim safely at a Vancouver public pool. Good job with the waterwings, mom and dad! (City of Vancouver)

Splash around with the whole family! If it's raining, bonus for you -- there will be fewer people. Just stay away from the outdoor pools if lightning strikes.
