A two-year-old girl has died after she was found in a pond in Langley, B.C., police say

The toddler was last seen around 3 p.m. Saturday near the family's property in the 25,000 block of Robertson Crescent, police said.

RCMP Inspector Bruce Anderson said the girl was apparently with other children when she disappeared.

Search and rescue and fire crews searched the property and drained a nearby pond, where she was found in the early evening.

Anderson said the girl was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing, Anderson said.
