A popular teacher is being mourned Tuesday at the high school where she taught in Surrey, B.C.
Maja Paderewska, 33, was found dead in her parents' Coquitlam townhouse Sunday. Her brother, 27-year-old Jarek Paderewski, has been charged with second degree murder.

Raj Puri, principal of North Surrey Secondary, said the entire school community is in shock following her death.
"When you lose a member of your school family, it's devastating," he said. "Our staff and students are absolutely devastated."
Puri said Paderewska taught business education at the school for the past seven years.
Staff were told about her death Monday morning, but students didn't find out until police held a press conference later in the day.
On Tuesday, counsellors were being made available to students and staff, and the school has set up a tribute area in the library and in a hallway where students can place flowers or notes.
One student, who was in Paderewska's class last semester, remembered how she gave nicknames to students, and made learning accounting and business fun.
"That's honestly the one class I looked forward to coming to every day," Micky Bhangu told CBC News outside the school Tuesday.
"We lost a perfect teacher."
A former student, Tanu Gill, said Paderewska would often stay late at the school to mentor students.
"I just went to her as a friend, always asking her for advice of what to do with life. She was always there for everybody," said Gill.
"If you ever needed something, you could instantly go to Miss Paderewska. You know she's always there after school, during lunch, and you could talk to her about anything."
Sgt. Adam MacIntosh said Jarek Paderewski, who lives in Coquitlam, was not known to police prior to being arrested following the death of his sister.
MacIntosh said Paderewski lives at the townhouse with his parents, but his sister did not.
