Police say the body of Xin Shi “Steven” Dong, a Burnaby resident, was discovered between two homes in the 2400 block of Ancaster Crescent near Fraserview Golf Course shortly after 6:30 p.m. PT.

Vancouver police Const. Brian Montague said the victim was known to police, associated with gangs and was connected to the drug trade.

"It is still early in the investigation, but the murder does appear to be targeted," Montague said in a written statement.

Police have yet to determine when exactly the shooting took place.

"We have lots more questions than we have answers right now and as those questions get answered we will provide them as best we can," Montague said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
