Surrey toddler falls 3 floors after pushing out window screen
A toddler received minor injuries after falling from a third-floor apartment window in Surrey's Strawberry Hill neighbourhood Saturday afternoon.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Warren Tyson said the toddler fell between six and nine metres out the window, after the screen was pushed out.
Tyson said the child escaped without serious injury after landing in a bush.
"[Our] early indication is that the child had been leaning up against the screen and it fell out," he said.
He said the child was conscious and breathing — and crying — when paramedics arrived, and was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital for observation.
Tyson said parents need to be vigilant when youngsters are close to any open windows. He said a similar incident happened just in the past few weeks.
