Surrey RCMP police cruiser in rollover accident
Police officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at hospital and released
Surrey RCMP are investigating a serious rollover accident involving a police cruiser. Fortunately the officer involved sustained only minor injuries and has since been treated and released from hospital.
RCMP says the police cruiser was northbound on King George Boulevard in the 7600 block around 10:15 p.m. PT Saturday when it changed lanes and hit the cement divider.
The police car went over the divider and rolled onto its roof, skidding into oncoming lanes of traffic.
Police say the officer was briefly pinned and the jaws of life had to be used to free him. His lights and sirens were not active when he lost control of the car.
Surrey RCMP SAY The officer has been with the police force about two years.
Cause of the accident is under investigation.
