The 23-year-old man who was arrested after a 19-year-old woman plunged to her death from the 26th floor of a Surrey highrise early Wednesday morning, has been released from custody.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team tweeted on Thursday morning that no charges have been laid in the case. Later in the day IHIT tweeted the woman's name was Maurine Arogie of Surrey.
"Her death remains suspicious and investigation continues," said the tweet.
Sgt. Adam MacIntosh of IHIT said members of the Surrey RCMP were on their way to the apartment on the 13000 block of 100 Avenue around 1 a.m. PT to respond to a call about a domestic dispute when the woman fell from the building.
Investigators are looking at what led to the woman's fall and if charges will be laid in the case.
"There's only a few options that could have occurred here. Our job is to determine what happened. If the evidence supports that what happened is criminal, we need that evidence to support that, and right now the circumstances are suspicious," said MacIntosh on Wednesday.
Police said they had been called to the suite on previous occasions, but declined to release details about the incidents. They have not released the name of the man arrested in the case.
