Surrey RCMP have arrested a suspect after a man was shot and seriously wounded in an attack Tuesday night at a Surrey convenience store.

Police said Langley resident Harpal Dhaliwal, 30, had outstanding warrants on several charges, including criminal negligence causing bodily harm and three firearms charges in connection with Tuesday's shooting.

Dhaliwal allegedly walked into the convenience store in the 10000 block of 152 Street in Surrey on Tuesday evening around 11 p.m. PT with another man.

The pair got into an argument and Dhaliwal's companion was shot in the groin during the dispute. The companion was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
